State support to be provided for tuition fees

By presidential decree, the amendment to the Decision on the Determination of Contribution Shares and Tuition Fees to be Collected as Student Contribution has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.

Under the decision, undergraduate and graduate students residing in or studying in provinces where a state of emergency was declared have been exempted from second-semester tuition fees. It was also announced that if payments were already collected for the 2023-2024 academic year, these fees will be refunded to the students.

''TUITION FEES WILL BE COVERED BY THE STATE''

The Presidential Decree is as follows:

"The tuition fees that must be paid by associate and undergraduate students whose families or themselves reside in provinces where a state of emergency has been declared by Presidential Decree and who are enrolled in formal education programs at any State higher education institution"

Or the evening education tuition fees that must be paid by associate and undergraduate students enrolled in formal education programs at any State higher education institution in provinces where a state of emergency has been declared, shall be covered by the State.

If evening education tuition fees have been collected from the students in question for the 2023-2024 Academic Year, they shall be refunded to the students by the higher education institutions.

With the added temporary article, the fees that must be paid by associate and undergraduate students whose families or themselves reside in the city of Gaza, Palestine, and who are enrolled in formal education programs at any State higher education institution in the 2023-2024 Academic Year Spring Semester, shall be covered by the State."
