Statement from YÖK regarding Bilgi University

Statement from YÖK regarding Bilgi University

The operating license of Istanbul Bilgi University has been terminated by a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette. The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has issued a statement to inform the public regarding the matter.

In its statement, YÖK indicated that necessary steps have been taken promptly to ensure that students and the university's academic and administrative staff do not suffer any loss of rights. The statement included the following remarks:

"Following the court-ordered appointment of a trustee to the founding foundation of Istanbul Bilgi University, the Presidential Decree regarding the revocation of the operating license, issued in accordance with Article 11 of Law No. 2547, has been published in today's Official Gazette.

The Council of Higher Education is taking the necessary measures immediately to ensure that our students do not experience any grievances and that educational activities continue without interruption.

Necessary procedures will be carried out to ensure that no grievances occur for the administrative and academic staff working at our university, as well as for our students.

Detailed explanations regarding the subject will be made in the coming days, and we kindly request that our valued students, their families, and the higher education community follow accurate and up-to-date information regarding the process only through the official communication channels of the Council of Higher Education."

As stated by YÖK, additional information regarding the process is expected to be shared with the public in the coming days.
