The expected announcement has arrived: Yusuf Tekin announces decision on mid-term break

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin provided clear information regarding the future of the mid-term break practice, which has been eagerly awaited by the public. Making a statement regarding the 2026-2027 academic year planning, Tekin announced that the mid-term break practice in education will be continued.

According to Minister Tekin's statement, the new academic calendar will be published soon. Speaking to Türkiye Gazetesi, Tekin said, "We will publish the academic calendar. Next year, we will have a mid-term break in the first semester, and the second semester's mid-term break period coincides with the week of the Ramadan Feast."

In the past, various evaluations had been made regarding the removal of mid-term breaks and adding them to the summer vacation, which had led to public debates. Specifically, the removal of the one-week mid-term breaks held in November and April had been brought to the agenda. However, with this latest announcement, it has been finalized that the current practice will continue in the 2026-2027 academic year.
