Turkey's most expensive schools revealed: Here are the 2026 fees

As families in Turkey scramble to enroll their children in private schools for the new academic term, the rise in school fees, particularly in major cities, is drawing attention. Those seeking education at prestigious high schools known for international accreditation, advantages in foreign language instruction, and high-standard campuses are facing serious budget constraints as enrollment costs reach historic peaks.

While the 2.5 million TL threshold for annual tuition has been exceeded at some high schools, total costs reach 3 million TL when additional expenses such as boarding and meals are included. Furthermore, items such as transportation, stationery, and school uniforms drive prices even higher, pushing the cumulative spending of families to record levels.

PRICE LIST FOR THE MOST EXPENSIVE PRIVATE SCHOOLS

The annual tuition fee for students wishing to attend the British International School in 2026 has been announced as 52,500 dollars. This figure corresponds to approximately 2 million 751 thousand TL at the current exchange rate.

On the other hand, while the 2025 preparatory class fee for Robert College has been set at 1 million 728 thousand 900 TL, additional payments ranging between 1 million 600 thousand TL and 1 million 950 thousand TL are required for boarding and meal options.

At Istanbul Saint-Joseph, a prominent French high school, the tuition fee is 1 million 290 thousand TL, with an additional 10 percent VAT added to this amount. For German High School students, the advance payment is around 1 million 395 thousand TL, and the total fee approaches 1.5 million TL when the installment payment option is chosen.

Üsküdar American Academy also ranks high on the list with a price of 1 million 395 thousand TL for 2026, while at Tarsus American College, the total payment for all services, including boarding, reaches 1 million 104 thousand TL. The fee at the American Collegiate Institute (ACI) in İzmir, including VAT and advance payment, is 1 million 162 thousand 500 TL, while Notre Dame de Sion in Istanbul requests 1 million 116 thousand 250 TL.

At Saint-Michel French High School, the figure including VAT for 9th graders reaches 1 million 100 thousand TL. At Sainte Pulchérie French High School, the total fee for the same level is approximately 1 million TL.

The tuition fee for the Italian High School, which is in a lower price bracket, has been announced as 550 thousand TL.

PRIMARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL FEES BY COLLEGE

The prices of leading colleges at the primary and middle school levels are also noteworthy. At Bahçeşehir College, there is a pricing structure ranging from 419 thousand TL to 539 thousand 600 TL at the primary school level. The average primary school fee at Bilfen College reaches 1 million 221 thousand 500 TL, and 1 million 15 thousand TL for middle school. Additionally, a meal fee of 225 thousand TL (+VAT) is added.

At Doğa College, prices have been set between 310 thousand TL and 410 thousand TL for primary school, and between 340 thousand TL and 450 thousand TL for middle school. At MEV Schools in Istanbul, annual fees start at 683 thousand 20 TL and climb up to 756 thousand 201 TL.

WHAT FACTORS INFLUENCE PRICES?

Physical facilities on campus play a decisive role in private school fees. Education costs remain high at schools with amenities such as swimming pools, multi-purpose sports halls, and large art studios. Schools that offer instruction in different languages (Turkish-English-bilingual options) and international accreditation also demand higher prices in exchange for their standards.

Services such as transportation, meals, and stationery, which are either included in the price or added later, make budgeting difficult for parents. Furthermore, the academic background and experience of the teachers are as influential on the pricing as they are on the quality of education provided by the institution.

ADDITIONAL EXPENSES STRAIN BUDGETS

Expenses that are not limited to the base tuition fee affect the decision-making processes of parents. Meal fees for 2026 are expected to range between 150 thousand TL and 220 thousand TL. Expenses such as transportation, uniforms, and stationery are generally seen to be outside of the tuition fee.

Experts emphasize that such additional expenses can increase the total cost by 30 to 40 percent. Families choosing private schools are advised to examine all expense items before enrollment and conduct a detailed budget analysis.
