Ugly response to students protesting KYK conditions! 'Did you have... at your father's house?'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Diyarbakır Deputy and Deputy Chair of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Human Rights Investigation Commission, Sezgin Tanrıkulu, visited the İyaz Bin Ganem Girls' Dormitory located on the Dicle University campus and made statements regarding the problems experienced by the students there.

Reminding that the students staying at the dormitory organized a protest due to a lack of hygiene, poor food conditions, cleaning issues, and complaints about insects, Tanrıkulu said, "A few days ago, the students voiced these problems. However, the response from the administration was even more dire. Humiliating expressions such as, 'Did you have air conditioning or natural gas at your father's house?' were used against the students."

Stating that this approach is unacceptable, Tanrıkulu added, "No administrator can use such a tone against student demands. This is not just a housing issue, but a fundamental human rights issue."

CALL TO THE DİYARBAKIR GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

Tanrıkulu issued a call, stating, "The Diyarbakır Governor's Office must urgently launch an investigation into this dormitory and other student dormitories, and action must be taken in the face of these allegations. The students' basic needs regarding hygiene, food, and housing conditions must be improved immediately."
