Massive support for Ekrem İmamoğlu from citizens with 15.5 million votes! The provinces with the highest number of votes have been revealed

After the CHP announced it would hold a primary election for its presidential candidacy, Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma was first cancelled, and subsequently, operations were carried out against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and İmamoğlu's colleagues.

Following these developments, the CHP held the primary election, in which 1,654,651 out of 1,878,149 CHP members cast their votes for İmamoğlu.

In the solidarity ballot boxes established, 13,844,070 votes were cast for İmamoğlu.

A total of 15,498,721 voters expressed their support for İmamoğlu to become the presidential candidate.

Oksijen Newspaper columnist Bekir Ağırdır evaluated the votes cast for İmamoğlu province by province:

'A SEVERE AND RESOLUTE REACTION TO THE ARRESTS'

Looking at the participation numbers for both members and non-members in the primary, it is possible to say this: the voters' reaction to the arrests was far more severe and resolute than expected. In the presidential candidacy primary, 1,654,651 out of 1,878,149 CHP members cast their votes.

Approximately 13,844,070 out of 61 million voters expressed their desire and will for İmamoğlu's presidential candidacy in the solidarity ballot boxes. Together with the votes cast in the solidarity ballot boxes, 15,498,721 voters have endorsed İmamoğlu's candidacy.

SAME AS THE VOTES RECEIVED IN THE LOCAL ELECTIONS

Even more interesting is that in the March 31, 2024 local elections, the CHP's local council votes were 15,785,662; meaning that almost the same number of voters this time showed their reaction to the events and the government, and their stance in favor of İmamoğlu, of their own volition.

CHP MEMBERS STRONGLY EMBRACED THE PARTY

The rate of CHP members who cast their votes was 88.1 percent nationwide. This number and rate are quite significant for the CHP. Considering many metrics such as the problems in the CHP's organizational structure, its fragmented nature, and critical stances against party policies, CHP members have embraced their party this strongly for the first time in many years.

In terms of the ratio of solidarity ballot box votes to the number of voters, Edirne stands out with 44.8%, İzmir with 41.3%, and Aydın with 40.4%.

CHP members showed the highest participation in Elazığ with 97.9% and the lowest participation in Iğdır with 50.2%.
