Yeni Şafak columnist calls for Minister Ersoy's resignation
The death of 76 citizens following the hotel fire in Bolu Kartalkaya has fueled a debate over negligence. Yeni Şafak columnist Aydın Ünal has called for the resignation of Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
The fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya has plunged the country into mourning.
While it was announced that 76 of our citizens lost their lives in the tragedy, the responsibility of the hotel management and the authorities has become a subject of debate following the incident.
After the fire, a dispute over jurisdiction arose between Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan and Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
In the shadow of these debates, Aydın Ünal, a columnist for the newspaper Yeni Şafak, which is known for its proximity to the government, directed harsh criticisms at Minister Ersoy.
In a statement on his social media account, Aydın Ünal said, "If Minister Ersoy is not going to resign in the face of such a great tragedy, the necessary action must be taken and he should be removed from office."
