Gezi prisoner Tayfun Kahraman's 'ballot box' call: 'I will pay the price for every vote cast'

Gezi prisoner and city planner Tayfun Kahraman issued a call to citizens to go to the polls in a post he shared on X, 3 days before the local elections.

Kahraman said the following in his post:

"PLEASE VOTE IN MY PLACE, FRIENDS"

"Hello everyone.

As you know, I was sentenced to 18 years in prison as a result of a trial without evidence or legal basis, and I am deprived of some of the most fundamental rights that everyone is born with. This includes voting.

For the first time in my life, I am not a voter in an election.

I have a call to everyone who has a conscience, who stands for law and justice, but who is thinking of not going to the polls for some reason or who asks what difference it will make.

Please vote in my place, friends.

Convince a neighbor who is not thinking of voting to cast a vote in my place.

Take someone who cannot go to the polls because they are sick or disabled to the ballot box by car in my place.

I will continue to defend Istanbul, to think and produce for ourselves and our future under any circumstances. I will pay the price for every vote cast in my place. I promise."
