It is confirmed that 2024 will be the 'hottest year' on record

According to a statement from the European Union's (EU) Copernicus, the average global temperature anomaly for the first 10 months of 2024 was measured at 0.71 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 average.

This measurement, which corresponds to the highest value on record for this period, has already confirmed that 2024 will be the hottest year on record.

"A NEW MILESTONE"

In the statement, Samantha Burgess, Deputy Director of the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), stated, "This marks a new milestone in global temperature records."

Pointing to the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in Baku from November 11-22, Burgess noted that the new data should serve as an accelerator for the conference to achieve its goals.

The Copernicus statement also mentioned that last month was the second-hottest October globally after October 2023.

The statement also included information that the global average temperature over the past 12 months (November 2023-October 2024) was measured at 0.74 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 average.
