AFAD issues yellow alert for 23 provinces and orange alert for 3! Heavy rainfall is coming

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) has issued a "yellow" alert for 23 provinces as of today, and an "orange" alert for 3 provinces for October 1-2 due to expected rainfall.

In a statement from AFAD, it was noted that according to the latest information received from the General Directorate of Meteorology and subsequent evaluations, a "yellow" alert has been issued for 23 provinces as of today, and an "orange" alert for 3 provinces between October 1-2 due to heavy rainfall.

The statement reported that tomorrow, severe and locally extreme rainfall is expected in the vicinity of Zonguldak and Bartın and the coastal parts of Kastamonu, while strong and locally very strong rainfall may occur in the vicinity of Düzce, Sinop, Bolu, Karabük, and Kastamonu, and added the following:

"Starting from the morning hours today, locally strong rainfall is expected in Sakarya, Bilecik, Zonguldak, Düzce, Bartın, Bolu, and Karabük, and after the noon hours in Kastamonu and Sinop; locally strong rainfall is expected in the vicinity of Ankara, Konya, Kırıkkale, and Çankırı during the noon hours today, and in the vicinity of Aksaray, Yozgat, Kırşehir, and Nevşehir starting from the evening hours; locally strong rainfall is expected in the vicinity of Samsun, Amasya, Tokat, and Çorum starting from the evening hours today; heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected."

The statement further noted:

"Citizens in our provinces under an orange rainfall alert have been informed by AFAD via SMS. The Governorates and Provincial AFAD directorates in the provinces under alert have been informed via message form. We strongly remind our citizens to be cautious against negative conditions such as flash floods, flooding, lightning, landslides, local hail, sudden strong winds, short-term storms, and disruptions in transportation."
