Alarm bells in forest fires: 23 detained, 4 arrested

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made a notable statement on his social media account regarding the forest fires that occurred between July 4 and July 22, 2025. Yerlikaya reported that 23 people were detained by the gendarmerie, 4 suspects were arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 19 individuals.

Minister Yerlikaya stated, "We kindly request our citizens to be much more cautious and take precautions to protect our forests, especially during hot summer days. May God protect our country from all kinds of disasters."

ESKİŞEHİR – 2 JUDICIAL CONTROL MEASURES IN A ONE-DAY FIRE

It was determined that the fire that broke out on July 4 in the Bardakçı neighborhood of Eskişehir's Seyitgazi district, which was brought under control on the same day, started in an area where forest logging workers were operating. Judicial control measures were imposed on 2 suspects.

HATAY – SUSPECT SEEN AT THE FIRE POINT ARRESTED

A suspect named S.K. was arrested in connection with the fire that started on July 4 in the Kesecik neighborhood of Hatay's Dörtyol district and was extinguished the following day.

BALIKESİR – MACHINE SPARKS IN DURSUNBEY BURNED 3 PEOPLE

It was understood that the fire that broke out on July 7 in the Kurtlar neighborhood of Balıkesir's Dursunbey district spread to the forest area due to sparks from a combine harvester. Judicial control was applied to A.G., İ.G., and S.E.

UŞAK – COMBINE HARVESTERS AND BALING MACHINES POSED A DANGER

The cause of the fire that started on July 8 in the Kızılhisar village of the Banaz district and was extinguished on July 9 was a combine harvester. Ö.A. and İ.Ş. were released under judicial control.

Work done with a baling machine in the Derbent village of Uşak's central district on July 9 also caused a fire. R.B. and O.A. were released under judicial control.

TEKİRDAĞ – 1 PERSON DETAINED IN ŞARKÖY

A judicial control decision was issued for R.K. regarding the fire in the Kocaali village of Şarköy on July 11.

BALIKESİR – ANOTHER COMBINE HARVESTER, ANOTHER FIRE

The fire that broke out on July 11 in the Bayıryüzü village of Dursunbey and was extinguished on July 12 was also caused by a combine harvester. A.G. and F.U. were detained. 1 person was arrested, and 1 person was released under judicial control.

KIRKLARELİ – DISASTER FROM A PARKED VEHICLE

The fire that broke out on July 12 in the Kocatarla village of the Kofçaz district started when an engine fire in S.D.'s vehicle spread to the forest. A judicial control decision was issued for S.D.

TUNCELİ – CANDLE PLACED ON GRAVE IGNITED DRY GRASS

The cause of the fire on July 13 in the Aşağı Oyumca village of Mazgirt was a candle that an individual named Y.Z.G. placed on his father's grave, which ignited dry grass. Judicial control was applied to the suspect.

BALIKESİR – BALING MACHINE CAUSED FIRE IN MANYAS

A judicial control decision was issued for Y.E.G. regarding the fire that broke out in the Çakırca neighborhood on July 13.

KONYA – TEA FIRE GOT OUT OF CONTROL

The cause of the fire that broke out on July 14 in the Güvenlik neighborhood of Doğanhisar was a fire lit by an individual named R.O. to make tea. The suspect was released under judicial control.

KÜTAHYA – COMBINE HARVESTER SPARK IGNITED GRASS

A judicial control decision was also issued for D.K., the perpetrator of the fire that broke out on July 15 in the Üzümlü village of Gediz.

BOLU – MACHINE FIRE IN MUDURNU

The fire on July 15 in the Deliceler village broke out during work with a baling machine. A judicial control decision was issued for M.Y.

MANİSA – 2 SEPARATE INCIDENTS IN SARUHANLI

F.K. was released under judicial control due to a fire caused by a grass-cutting machine in the Seyitoba neighborhood. On the same day, a fire broke out during work with a welding machine in the Apak neighborhood; M.S. was arrested.

BİLECİK – 2 DETAINED, 1 ARRESTED IN KURT VILLAGE

It was determined that the fire that broke out on July 20 in the Kurt village of Bilecik's central district was again caused by combine harvester sparks. U.Ü. and C.P. were detained. 1 person was arrested, and 1 person was released under judicial control.
