Ancient harbor in Çanakkale turns into a pink lake
The historic harbor of the Ancient City of Alexandria Troas, located in the Ezine district of Çanakkale, has turned into a heart-shaped lake after losing its connection to the sea over time. The lake draws attention by turning pink during certain periods.
The 2,000-year-old inner harbor of the Ancient City of Alexandria Troas, located in the village of Dalyan in the Ezine district, was once an important trade center. However, having lost its connection to the outer harbor over time, this area turned into a lake through natural processes. The lake's heart shape was formed by the receding water and the influence of natural conditions.
The lake's transformation into a pink color is caused by the proliferation of a microscopic plant organism called 'dunaliella salina' due to increases in temperature and salinity. This situation gives the lake a unique appearance and makes it one of the rare pink lakes in the world.
THE LAKE IS HEART-SHAPED
The heart-shaped lake attracts the interest of visitors and is gaining popularity through photos shared on social media. With the water turning pink again in recent days, the beauty of the lake has been revealed once more. This unique natural wonder, captured from the air by drone, also makes significant contributions to tourism.
