'Bomb cyclone' warning for the weekend
Turkey has come under the influence of cold and rainy weather as of mid-November. As winter begins to show its face, particularly with the sudden drop in temperatures, a 'bomb cyclone risk' warning has now been issued for the weekend.
In the Ereğli district of Zonguldak, a ship sank due to a storm at sea, resulting in the loss of 4 lives, and search operations were launched for 11 missing crew members. Ereğli had been declared a disaster zone.
SNOW WARNING ISSUED FOR ISTANBUL
While precipitation has turned to snow in some high-altitude parts of the country, a snow warning has also been issued for Istanbul. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül had announced that snowfall was expected on Sunday, November 26.
The meteorology page Hava Forum on social media stated that weather conditions could be dangerous this weekend as well. The warning stated, 'There is a risk of a bomb cyclone.'

A bomb cyclone is a term for cyclones where the pressure drops by at least 24 millibars in 24 hours. It is an event where a cyclone rapidly intensifies due to a sudden drop in pressure.
A bomb cyclone causes severe meteorological events in a short time. The agenda for this weekend could once again be a destructive storm and heavy precipitation.”
