The rain, which started as a downpour accompanied by thunder, also left citizens in a difficult situation. In Taksim, it was observed that citizens had difficulty walking and were forced to take shelter in open shops. The heavy rain also caused difficulties for vehicles. The downpour is expected to increase in intensity, particularly during the morning and afternoon hours.

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE HAD ISSUED A STATEMENT

The Istanbul Governor's Office, which issued a warning for Sunday, December 7, emphasized that the expected heavy rainfall could lead to negative consequences in the city such as floods, inundations, flash currents, and traffic disruptions. It urged citizens to be cautious and to plan their public transport and travel according to the weather conditions. The statement included the following: "According to the latest assessments by the General Directorate of Meteorology, heavy rainfall is expected in Istanbul on Sunday, December 7. Due to the heavy rainfall, one must be careful and cautious against negative consequences such as floods, inundations, and disruptions in transportation."
