Forest fire that started in Sakarya spreads to Bilecik! Two neighborhoods evacuated, flames approach villages

A forest fire that broke out yesterday near Hacılar Neighborhood in the Geyve district of Sakarya grew rapidly and began to threaten nearby settlements. As the flames spread quickly, two neighborhoods in the region were evacuated as a precaution.

FIRE CROSSES INTO BİLECİK

The fire reached the borders of the Osmaneli district of Bilecik during the night. The village of Kızılöz, in particular, is in danger as the fire approaches. While some houses in the village were evacuated as a precaution, residents began loading their belongings onto tractors to move them to safe areas.

INTENSIVE GROUND AND AIR INTERVENTION

Firefighting teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry and municipal fire departments are intervening in the fire from the ground. At the same time, aircraft and helicopters are participating in aerial suppression efforts. Due to the mountainous and rugged terrain of the region, teams are working to reach the fire line and open new paths using heavy machinery.

RUGGED TERRAIN HINDERS OPERATIONS

Teams attempting to slow the progress of the fire are facing great difficulties in the rugged and forested terrain. The shifting direction and intensity of the wind are making it difficult to bring the flames under control. Authorities announced that all resources have been mobilized to prevent the fire from reaching residential areas.
