Decreasing rainfall in Istanbul has significantly lowered water levels in the dams. Many factors such as the increasing population, unconscious water consumption, infrastructure losses, closed water sources, and global warming have brought the water problem in large cities back to the agenda. According to data shared by the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ), dam occupancy rates across the city have fallen to 17 percent levels.
