Heavy rain and downpour warning from the Meteorological Service! (March 6, 2024)

The General Directorate of Meteorology has released the weather report for March 6, 2024.

The precipitation, which will generally be in the form of rain and downpours, and sleet or occasional snow in the higher elevations of the inner Aegean, the interior parts of the eastern Black Sea, and the northern and eastern highlands of eastern Anatolia, is expected to be locally heavy in the vicinity of Adana, Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş, Kayseri, Sivas, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, Erzincan, Tunceli, Bingöl, Muş, Bitlis, and Hakkari. There is an avalanche risk in the interior parts of the eastern Black Sea and the northern and eastern parts of eastern Anatolia.

Air temperatures are expected to decrease by 4 to 6 degrees in the northern, interior, and eastern parts, with no significant changes expected elsewhere.
The wind is expected to blow generally from southern and eastern directions, and from the northwest in the western parts starting in the afternoon, light to occasionally moderate, and strong (40-60 km/h) from southern directions in the eastern Mediterranean, the eastern part of Central Anatolia, the interior parts of the central and eastern Black Sea, and the western part of eastern Anatolia.

Ankara: Very cloudy, with rain and downpours at noon 11
İstanbul: Very cloudy, with intermittent rain and downpours 11
İzmir: Partly to very cloudy 17
Adana: Partly to very cloudy, with intermittent downpours and occasional thunderstorms. Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the morning hours. 18
Antalya: Partly to very cloudy, with downpours and occasional thunderstorms in the eastern districts 18
Samsun: Very cloudy, with intermittent rain starting in the afternoon 12
Trabzon: Very cloudy, with intermittent rain expected starting in the afternoon. Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the evening hours. 14
Erzurum: Very cloudy, with intermittent rain and sleet, and occasional snow in higher elevations 5
Diyarbakır: Very cloudy, with intermittent downpours starting in the afternoon 14
