Meteorology expert gives date and issues warning for Istanbul! 'Schools should be closed...'
Meteorology expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen issued a warning regarding the southwesterly storm (lodos) expected to be effective in Istanbul today and the snowfall expected on Monday; he stated that snow could accumulate in the city center and that schools should be closed.
Meteorology expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen shared weather warnings of great concern to Istanbul during a live broadcast on CNN Türk.
Drawing attention to the southwesterly storm (lodos) expected to increase in intensity across the city today, Şen stated that the strong winds could negatively affect daily life. Noting that wind speeds could reach up to 70 kilometers per hour in some areas, Şen emphasized that citizens should take precautions.
SOUTHWESTERLY STORM WILL BE EFFECTIVE ALL DAY
Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen stated that the lodos could cause disruptions, especially in transportation and open areas, and called for caution across Istanbul.
SNOW EXPECTED FOR THE NEW WEEK
Şen also shared an important snow warning for Istanbul for the new week. Stating that snowfall is expected across the city on Monday, Şen said that this precipitation might not be limited to high altitudes. He pointed out that there is a possibility of snow accumulating in the city center as well.

Expressing that weather conditions could cause disruptions in transportation, Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen also issued a warning regarding students. Şen used the expression, "Snow could accumulate in the city center as well, schools should be closed."
