Meteorology issues downpour warning for the second day of the holiday

The General Directorate of Meteorology has announced that strong winds from northern directions are expected in the southwest of the Marmara region and the North Aegean. Meanwhile, temperatures across the country are expected to remain above seasonal norms. Additionally, there is a forecast for showers and occasional thunderstorms in Southeastern Anatolia and the inland parts of Samsun and Ordu.

Meteorology issues downpour warning for the second day of the holiday

According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, the inland and eastern parts of the country are expected to be very cloudy, with showers and occasional thunderstorms in the inland parts of the Mediterranean, the inland parts of the Eastern Black Sea, the south and east of Eastern Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia, and the inland parts of Samsun and Ordu, while other areas are expected to be partly to mostly clear.

Mist and occasional fog are expected in the east of the Marmara region and the west of the Western Black Sea during the morning and night hours.

There is a risk of avalanches, snowmelt, and landslides in the inland parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the north and east of Eastern Anatolia.

2-4 DEGREE INCREASE EXPECTED

Air temperatures are expected to increase by 2-4 degrees, especially in the inland areas, with no significant changes elsewhere, and are expected to continue to hover above seasonal norms across the country.

The wind is expected to blow generally from northern and eastern directions, light to occasionally moderate, and strong (40-60 km/h) from northern directions in the southwest of the Marmara region and the North Aegean.

In the assessment made by the MGM, the warning was included: "Since the wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from northern directions in the southwest of the Marmara region and the North Aegean, it is necessary to be careful and cautious against potential negative consequences." 

SNOWMELT WARNING

Attention was also drawn to the danger of avalanches, snowmelt, and the risk of landslides on slopes with high snow cover in the inland parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the north and east of Eastern Anatolia.
