Meteorology issues thunderstorm warning for the country

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) reports that according to the latest assessments, the western and inner parts of the country will be very cloudy, with rain and occasional thunderstorms expected in the Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia (except Sivas), Western Black Sea regions, as well as the surroundings of Adana, Samsun, Çorum, and Amasya, and the western parts of Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş, and Tokat. Other areas are expected to be partly to mostly cloudy.

The rainfall is expected to be locally heavy across the province of Çanakkale, the province of Muğla, and the northern and inner parts of İzmir. There is a risk of avalanches on the steep slopes with snow cover in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea, the north and east of Eastern Anatolia, and the Central Taurus Mountains. Dust transport is expected in some parts of Southeastern Anatolia.

AIR TEMPERATURE: It is expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees in the western parts of our country, with no significant changes expected elsewhere.

WIND: It is expected to blow generally from southerly directions, light to occasionally moderate.

WARNINGS

HEAVY RAIN WARNING: Locally heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the province of Muğla. Due to the heavy rainfall, caution and precautions are advised against negative consequences such as flash floods, flooding, lightning, local hail, strong winds during precipitation, the risk of waterspouts along the coasts, and disruptions in transportation.

AVALANCHE DANGER WARNING: Caution and precautions should be taken as there is a risk of avalanches on the snow-covered, sloping terrain in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea, the north and east of Eastern Anatolia, and the Central Taurus Mountains.
