MGM announces: Thunderstorm warning issued

The General Directorate of Meteorology has released the weather report for July 31. While a yellow-coded warning has been issued for 4 provinces, showers and thunderstorms are expected in Istanbul, Sinop, Zonguldak, Artvin, Samsun, Trabzon, Erzurum, Kars, Rize, and Giresun. The wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from northerly directions in the Marmara region, the North and Coastal Aegean, and the Central Black Sea coasts.

According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), the northern parts of the country are expected to be partly to very cloudy, with local showers and thunderstorms in the northern outskirts of Istanbul, the Western Black Sea (excluding Bolu, Düzce, and Karabük), the Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts, and the northeast of Eastern Anatolia, while other areas are expected to be mostly clear and sunny.

AIR TEMPERATURE: Temperatures are expected to decrease by 1-3 degrees in the interior regions, with no significant changes expected elsewhere.

WIND: Generally expected to blow from the north, and from the west and southwest in the southern parts of the country, light to occasionally moderate, and strong (40-60 km/h) from northerly directions in the Marmara region, the North and Coastal Aegean, and the Central Black Sea coasts.

WARNINGS

STRONG WIND WARNING: Since the wind is expected to blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from northerly directions in the Marmara region, the North and Coastal Aegean, and the Central Black Sea coasts, caution and vigilance are advised against potential negative consequences.

HEAVY RAIN WARNING: Since precipitation is expected to be locally heavy on the Eastern Black Sea coast, caution and vigilance are advised against potential negative consequences.

PROVINCES UNDER YELLOW-CODED WARNING: Artvin, Giresun, Rize, and Trabzon.
