Downpour and storm warning from MGM!
The General Directorate of Meteorology has released the weather report for April 20. According to the report, while partly to very cloudy weather is expected across the country, warnings for heavy rainfall and storms have been issued for numerous regions.
According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: the country is expected to be partly to very cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms expected in Marmara, the Aegean, the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia (except Sivas), Western and Central Black Sea regions, and the surroundings of Kars. The rainfall is expected to be heavy and, in some places, very heavy in the surroundings of Marmara (except Bilecik), Southern Aegean, Western Mediterranean, and Uşak, as well as the western districts of Kütahya.
AIR TEMPERATURE
Air temperatures are expected to decrease by 2 to 4 degrees in the western parts of the country due to the rainy weather, remaining around seasonal norms, while no significant change is expected elsewhere, with temperatures continuing to hover above seasonal norms.
WIND
The wind is expected to blow generally from southerly directions, light to occasionally moderate in strength; it is expected to blow strongly from northerly directions in Marmara (40-70 km/h), and as a storm (51-75 km/h) and locally strong storm (75-90 km/h) from southerly and southwesterly directions in the Southern and Inner Aegean, Western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and the Western and Central Black Sea regions.
HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING
Since the rainfall is expected to be heavy and, in some places, very heavy (30-70 kg/m²) in the surroundings of Marmara (except Bilecik), Southern Aegean, Western Mediterranean, and Uşak, as well as the western districts of Kütahya, it is necessary to be cautious and take precautions against negative consequences such as flash floods, flooding, lightning, local hail, strong winds, and the risk of tornadoes in coastal areas.
STORM WARNING
Since the wind is expected to blow strongly from northerly directions in Marmara (40-70 km/h), and as a storm (51-75 km/h) and locally strong storm (75-90 km/h) from southerly and southwesterly directions in the Southern and Inner Aegean, Western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and the Western and Central Black Sea regions, one must be cautious and take precautions against negative consequences such as falling trees and poles, roof dislodgement, transportation disruptions, and dust storms.
