New wave of precipitation expected in Istanbul: Thunderstorms on the way
After the recent heavy rainfall, Istanbul will take a short break, but will be soaked again by a new weather system starting mid-week.
Weather conditions that have persisted in Istanbul for three days, leaving between 65 and 117 kilograms of precipitation per square meter in some areas, are moving away from the city as of today for a short period. In Istanbul, which is at the center of meteorological precautions, a rainless day is expected today, with temperatures rising to 16 degrees.
However, according to the latest assessments, a new wave of rainy weather coming from the Central Mediterranean will enter Istanbul on Wednesday. Experts point out that temperatures will rise by a few more degrees to the 14-19 degree band, but intermittent rainfall will be seen again across the region over the next 4-5 days.
It is stated that the rains, which are expected to start on Wednesday evening, will initially drop between 3 and 7 kilograms, and will increase in intensity on Friday in the form of thunderstorms, reaching up to 5 to 15 kilograms per square meter. The last working day of the week will be quite active with heavy downpours accompanied by thunder.
Experts advise citizens and drivers to be careful against possible negative situations such as floods or water accumulation, especially as the weekend approaches. It is expected that weather developments will be closely monitored in the coming days and that actions will be taken in accordance with warnings.
