Prof. Dr. Ercan warns of 'murder' for 3 provinces: 'There will be new massacres'

Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan issued warnings regarding the February 6 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.

Ercan stated the following in a post on X:

"YOU CANNOT ACT AGAINST NATURE"

"I was in Kahramanmaraş yesterday; the city was established in the bosom of the Ahir Mountain, on its foothills, in a place called Bağlar. On Alpaslan Türkeş, Trabzon, and Azerbaycan streets, 8-10 story buildings on solid ground remain standing.

Those that were poorly built have collapsed. This is a massacre (murder)! Which other Anatolian cities are like this?

The Kahramanmaraş plain is fertile, irrigated agricultural land. Just like Gaziantep and Adıyaman. All construction here must be removed. Otherwise, there will be new massacres.

What was going to happen in Kahramanmaraş has happened. There is no place left to break. There may be small, non-destructive earthquakes or tremors. However, I do not expect a destructive earthquake.

There is no destruction in the new settlements on Ahir Mountain in Kahramanmaraş. Settle on the hills, on the mountains, and feed from the agricultural fields. You cannot act against nature.

"WHEN AN EARTHQUAKE HAPPENS, IMMEDIATELY..."

Adıyaman is located on the Bitlis Suture Zone, on the NW front of the Arabian Shield, on the border of the Eurasian and Anatolian continents, right next to the southern side of the East Anatolian Fault, and on the Adıyaman Fault. However, the tension in this region has been released. I do not expect a major earthquake.

In Kahramanmaraş, TOKİ is building 10 thousand sturdy houses on Ahir Mountain. They should trust the TOKİ houses. The site selection is correct, the structures are sturdy, and they are also affordable to acquire. None have been delivered yet.

Those who experienced the earthquake are staying in container homes. Life has returned to normal. Time makes people forget the pain as the days go by.

THE ELEVEN-PROVINCE EARTHQUAKE is neither the first nor the last earthquake. Let us learn now that whenever an earthquake occurs anywhere in Turkey, martial law should be declared immediately, and local security forces, the gendarmerie, judges, and prosecutors must immediately intervene to ensure the safety of the public's life and property."
