Record fines issued in environmental inspections

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has taken significant steps in the fight against environmental pollution, issuing 2.6 billion TL in fines during inspections conducted over the last six months. While the operations of 233 businesses were suspended, the highest fines were imposed on marine vessels.

Record fines issued in environmental inspections

As part of its efforts against environmental pollution, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change conducted 32 thousand 676 inspections in the first half of 2025. As a result of these inspections, a total of 2 billion 657 million TL in administrative fines were imposed on those polluting the environment, and the operations of 233 businesses were suspended.

MARINE VESSELS TOP THE LIST

In the inspections, the highest fine, amounting to 939 million 510 thousand TL, was issued to marine vessels. While 564 million 157 thousand TL in fines were imposed due to waste pollution, 400 million 932 thousand TL in fines were issued for violations of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) commitments.

The Ministry stated that inspections are continuing uninterrupted to protect the environment and that work is being carried out for a green environment and clean seas. Ministry officials emphasized that the work carried out in this context will continue.
