Breaking News... Forest fire in Istanbul!
A fire that broke out in the Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli City Forest in Istanbul's Sultangazi district caused panic. While numerous firefighting teams are responding to the blaze, citizens in the forest were warned via announcements and evacuated from the area.
A fire broke out for an unknown reason around noon today in the Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli City Forest located in Istanbul's Sultangazi district. Upon reports from citizens in the vicinity who noticed the flames, numerous fire trucks and teams from the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry were dispatched to the scene.
CITIZENS EVACUATED WITH WARNINGS
As the fire spread in a short time, teams used loudspeakers to issue warning announcements to citizens picnicking in the forest, asking them to leave the area. While citizens were rapidly evacuated as part of security measures, dense smoke was seen rising from the forest.
EXTINGUISHING EFFORTS CONTINUE
While firefighting teams are responding to the blaze intensively both from the ground and with various equipment, no official statement has been made yet regarding the cause of the fire. Efforts to bring the fire under control are ongoing.
