Water alarm for Istanbul: Parliamentary inquiry motion submitted

DEM Party Istanbul MP Cengiz Çiçek has submitted a parliamentary inquiry motion to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to investigate the deepening water crisis, the threat of drought, and structural problems in water management in Istanbul.

In his motion, Cengiz Çiçek stated that Istanbul is Turkey's most densely populated city with a population of approximately 17 million, and that this situation places serious pressure on water resources.

He expressed that climate change, irregular precipitation patterns, infrastructure deficiencies, and unplanned urbanization are deepening this pressure, creating a multidimensional crisis that threatens Istanbul's current and future water security.
