'Yellow' alert for Istanbul!

The General Directorate of Meteorology's Istanbul Regional Forecast and Early Warning Center stated that the strong winds currently affecting the western part of the region are expected to intensify. Tomorrow, short-term storms (40-60 km/h, with gusts up to 75 km/h) from the south and southwest are expected in the southern parts of Edirne and the northern districts of Istanbul, while strong storms (50-70 km/h, with gusts up to 90 km/h) are expected in the Demirköy and Vize districts of Kırklareli.

The statement emphasized the need to be careful and take precautions against potential negative impacts such as disruptions in transportation, roof damage, and carbon monoxide poisoning from stoves and natural gas.

On the 'MeteoUyarı' (MeteoAlert) section of the General Directorate of Meteorology's official website, a 'yellow' color-coded alert was issued for Saturday, December 2, for Istanbul, Çanakkale, Edirne, and Kırklareli.

(YELLOW - The weather is potentially dangerous: While the predicted meteorological event is not unusual, caution should be exercised regarding activities that may be affected by meteorological conditions.)

ISTANBUL GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ALSO ISSUED A WARNING

In a warning issued by the Istanbul Governor's Office, it was stated: "It is estimated that the wind in the Marmara region will blow as a storm from the south and southwest at force 6 to 8 (50-75 km/h) starting from tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon. The storm is expected to lose its effect after the evening hours on Sunday (26.11.2023).

Caution and precautions must be taken against negative impacts such as falling trees and poles, roof damage, and disruptions in transportation."
