The General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) has completed the deliberations on the second part of the "Draft Law on Amendments to the Turkish Penal Code and Certain Laws," publicly known as the "11th Judicial Package."PATH TO RELEASE FOR 50,000 PRISONERSOPENEDArticle 27 of the 11th Judicial Package, publicly known as the "Covid-19 regulation," which paves the way for the release of 50,000 prisoners, has been accepted. Thus, those convicted of crimes committed on or before July 31, 2023, will be transferred from closed prisons to open prisons, and from open prisons to probation 3 years earlier.
