83-year-old woman who could not marry her love holds a wedding without a groom

After Sümbül Topbaş, a resident of the Seyhan Nursing Home and Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center in the Seyhan district of Adana, told staff members about her lifelong dream of wearing a wedding dress, the Provincial Directorate of Social Services organized a symbolic wedding for her.

After completing her preparations at the hair salon, Topbaş was taken to the wedding hall in a convoy and danced with the Provincial Director of Family and Social Services, Mustafa Gökboğa.

Gökboğa stated to journalists that Topbaş had been dreaming of this day for years, saying, "Today, we are fulfilling the dream of our aunt, who has never worn a wedding dress or been married in her entire life. During her conversations with our professional staff and friends at the nursing home, our aunt expressed her longing to wear a wedding dress. Upon this, we organized this event through our colleagues, institution staff, and non-governmental organizations to make her dream come true."

Toptaş, who stated that she never married in her life due to an unrequited love she experienced during her childhood, expressed that she was happy to wear a wedding dress and have a wedding ceremony.
