Bahçeli reaffirms his stance on Öcalan: Another call to İmralı and the DEM Party!
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli explained the reason behind his call to Abdullah Öcalan, stating, "A direct connection must be established between İmralı and the DEM Party." Bahçeli stated that his call was not related to politics and that he stands by his words.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated that he stands by the call he made to Abdullah Öcalan last October and detailed the reasoning behind it.
In a live broadcast on Ekol TV, Bahçeli stated, "İmralı is point A, and the DEM Party is point B. The shortest line between two points is a straight line. Therefore, a connection must be established."
A TURKEY AT PEACE AND WITHOUT TERROR
Devlet Bahçeli defined the process he initiated by shaking hands with DEM Party representatives on October 1 as "A Turkey at peace and without terror." Bahçeli stated that while discussions have continued following his call to Abdullah Öcalan during his group meeting on October 22, the fundamental goal of the process is to ensure the country's peace.
Referring to President Erdoğan's speech at the opening of Parliament, Bahçeli recalled Erdoğan's words: "When the interests of Turkey and our 85 million citizens are at stake, we must set aside political competition." Bahçeli said that he acted as part of the People's Alliance following this statement and reinforced the dialogue by shaking hands with DEM Party members after Erdoğan left the parliamentary hall.
'I STAND BY MY CALL'
Devlet Bahçeli stated that his call to Abdullah Öcalan was not a politically motivated move, noting that he reiterated the call he made during the October 22 group meeting and stands by it. Bahçeli emphasized that terrorism must end and stated that the issue of terrorism in Turkey should not be allowed to persist beyond 40 years.
'THE DEM PARTY MUST BECOME A TURKISH PARTY'
Bahçeli stated that the DEM Party should take stronger steps in line with Turkey's interests, expressing his expectations for the party to take steps toward becoming a "Turkish party."
Bahçeli added that his call regarding Öcalan aims solely to ensure peace in Turkey and that ending terrorism is a critical step for Turkey's future.
