102 Kosovar women knit a flag for the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye

A meaningful event was held in Kosovo to mark the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye. In the city of Prizren, where the Turkish population is concentrated, 102 Kosovar women knitted a Turkish flag.

The Orkide Women's Association flew the flag, knitted by 102 women, from the balcony of the Turkish Consulate General in Prizren.

In her speech at the ceremony, which was also attended by Orkide Women's Association President Sevgi Kervan, Kosova Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP) MP Fidan Brina Jılta, and Turkish Consul General in Prizren Fatih Topçu, Kervan said, "On the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, we, as the Orkide Women's Association, have displayed today this Turkish flag, a labor of love created by 102 women.

In fact, our grandmothers, mothers, and young people of Prizren all knitted this flag. And of course, we thank all our Orkide women and the women of Prizren who contributed to the knitting of this flag.

A flag is a nation's most precious treasure. We wanted to present this today on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of our republic.

We thank everyone who contributed and put in the effort. We also thank our Republic of Türkiye Consulate General in Prizren and the Republic of Türkiye Embassy in Kosovo for their cooperation," she said.

KDTP MP Fidan Brina Jılta also stated, "Today is the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

In this context, the Orkide Women's Association made the flag by using red handicrafts with 102 women in Prizren, joining them together and adding the star on top.

I would like to emphasize that such events have been held in Kosovo and Prizren for years, and that as Turks living outside of Türkiye, we celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye every year.

I celebrate everyone's Republic Day from here. I say long live the Republic," she expressed.

"IT IS GOOD THAT THE TURKISH COMMUNITY IS STILL HERE"

A Turkish citizen visiting Prizren as a tourist said, "We are very happy. We thank you for representing Türkiye in a foreign land, showing Turkish strength, and for national existence and national integrity. May you exist, we are happy."

Another Turkish citizen said, "For me, it was truly a source of pride to see the Turkish flag at the head of the bridge.

It is truly a source of pride that October 29 Republic Day is still celebrated in these lands outside of Türkiye. It is good that you exist, it is good that the Turkish community is still here," they expressed.
