In Samsun, 15 tons of expired and spoiled medicine were converted into electrical energy.
The Samsun Chamber of Pharmacistsregularly collectsexpired and spoiledmedicinesfoundin pharmacieseverytwo years to destroy them. The Chamber collected the expired and spoiled medicines accumulated in pharmacies at its headquarters to carry outtheirdestruction.The 15 tonsof expired and spoiled medicines, collected to be destroyed by licensed firms in accordance with relevantregulations,were loadedonto trucks and set off for disposal. The 15 tons of expiredandspoiledmedicineswereloaded ontotrucks and set off to be destroyed.
In a statement made by the Chamber, it was stated: "The proper disposal of expired medicines is of great importance for the protection of nature and the ecosystem.
Medicinesthrown into the trashuncontrolled or poured into the sewage systemcan cause chemical pollution in soil, groundwater,and water sources, negatively affectinglivingorganisms.
Therefore, the disposal of expired medicinesin accordance with relevant legislation andenvironmental safety rules ensures the protection of natural resources,the prevention of environmental pollution, and the safeguarding of public health.With the disposal operations carried out, harmful substances were prevented from mixinginto the environment and were converted into electrical energy,contributing to a sustainable environmental approach."
