The Minimum Wage Determination Commission will meet in December to set the 2025 minimum wage. The new wage increase will directly affect many payments such as unemployment benefits, severance pay, general health insurance premiums, the 65-year-old pension, and intern salaries.
As we approach the end of the year, expectations regarding the raise to be applied to the minimum wage have begun to take center stage.
The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which will meet in December, will begin negotiations to determine the minimum wage that will be valid for 2025.
This decision will also directly affect many payments such as unemployment benefits, the severance pay base, general health insurance premiums, the 65-plus pension, intern salaries, and military and maternity debt repayment premiums.
Which payments will increase along with the minimum wage? Unemployment benefits, severance pay, GSS premiums, the 65-plus pension, intern salaries, and more will be affected by the raise.
So, what will this increase rate be? According to public discourse, the projected raise rate is around 30%. With this rate, it is estimated that the net minimum wage will reach the 22,102 TL level for 2025.
Unemployment Benefit:
It is determined as 80% of the minimum wage for the ceiling and 40% for the floor. The ceiling salary, which is currently 15,989 TL, could rise to 20,786 TL with a 30% raise. The floor salary will reach the 10,393 TL level from 7,994 TL.
Severance Pay:
The severance pay base is calculated based on the gross minimum wage. The base amount, which is currently 20,002 TL, will be 26,002 TL with a 30% increase.
GSS Premiums:
The General Health Insurance (GSS) premium paid by individuals without social security is 3% of the minimum wage. This premium, which is currently 509 TL, will rise to 662 TL with a 30% raise.
65-Plus Pension:
The 65-plus pension, which is currently at the 3,993 TL level, will rise to 5,190 TL with a 30% raise.
Intern Salary:
The intern salary is 30% of the gross minimum wage, and the current salary of 5,096 TL will rise to 6,625 TL with a 30% raise.
Military and Maternity Debt Repayment:
The daily debt repayment fee, which corresponds to 32% of the minimum wage, is 213 TL and will reach 277 TL after a 30% raise.
Disability Pension:
While the lowest disability pension for those with a 40-69% disability rating is 2,792 TL, it will be 3,629 TL after the raise. The highest payment for those with a 70% or higher disability will rise to 5,444 TL.
Optional Insurance Premium:
The optional insurance premium, which is currently 6,395 TL, could rise to the 8,314 TL level with a 30% raise.
