Affecting millions... AKP gives a date for the lowest pension

With the six-month inflation figures finalized, the salary increase rate for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees has been set at 24.73 percent.

However, this rate will only be applied to base salaries.

Those with a base pension of 7,710 Turkish Lira or less will not see any increase reflected in their salaries. For retirees with a base pension above 7,710 Turkish Lira, a partial increase will be reflected in their salaries.

As a result, approximately 1.8 million retirees receiving the lowest pension of 10 thousand liras faced the risk of receiving a zero percent raise in July.

Meanwhile, the AKP has initiated efforts to regulate a raise for the lowest pension.

It is being discussed behind the scenes that the lowest pension, currently at 10 thousand liras, will be increased to the 12-13 thousand lira level. It is noted that a flat-rate raise for retirees is not on the agenda.

AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler also shared a development concerning millions of retirees.

Regarding the raise to be applied to the lowest pension, Güler stated, "We will announce it at the beginning of next week."

AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler was expected to hold a meeting chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, with the participation of Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, and AKP Deputy Chairman Mustafa Elitaş, regarding the regulation for an increase in the lowest pension.
