Al Nassr's championship postponed by a goal conceded in 90+8
In Saudi Arabia, Al Nassr, managed by Jorge Jesus, saw their championship hopes postponed after conceding a goal in the 90+8th minute during their match against their closest rival, Al Hilal, in the Pro League.
The Saudi Pro League saw the excitement of the Riyadh derby. The match between Al Nassr and Al Hilal, who have been in a title race throughout the season, ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving the championship undecided until the final week. In the derby played at Al-Awwal Park, the hosts took a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute with a goal from Mohamed Simakan following a corner kick.
In the first half, Al Nassr also hit the post with a shot from Kingsley Coman. While the visiting team struggled to create chances in the second half, the equalizer came due to a mistake by goalkeeper Bento. In the 90+8th minute, the ball, which slipped from the hands of the Brazilian goalkeeper Bento as he went up for a throw-in from the right, found the back of the net.
As the match ended in a 1-1 draw, Al Nassr could not secure the championship. With this result, Jesus's students increased their points to 83. Al Hilal, who are undefeated in the league and managed by Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, remained at 77 points. National footballer Yusuf Akçiçek was subbed into the game for the Blues in the 77th minute.
Al Nassr will face Damac FC in the final week of the league. Al Hilal has 2 games remaining.
