Allegations in loan sharking investigation draw attention: Suicides at different times

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the teams of the Provincial Security Directorate's Intelligence Branch and the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch under the coordination of the Milas Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, allegations of lending money at high interest rates (loan sharking) and related incidents have been placed under scrutiny.

The investigation file includes allegations that an individual named Önder Ö. was forced into debt at high interest rates and subsequently committed suicide; that Ali Taha Demir, the son of suspect M.D., and his friend Halil İbrahim Tuzcu were killed by M.A.Ö., the son of Ö., who was stated to be a victim of loan sharking; and that another individual named Serkan A. was also forced into debt in exchange for high interest, transferred his house, and committed suicide after writing a letter.

Simultaneous operation in Milas and Osmaniye

Within the scope of the planned work carried out, a simultaneous operation was conducted on February 17 in the Milas district of Muğla and the province of Osmaniye.

During the searches conducted at the identified addresses, a photocopy of a promissory note worth 1 million 500 thousand TL issued in the name of the deceased Serkan A., a photocopy of a promissory note worth 1 million 650 thousand TL issued in the name of the deceased Önder Ö., one promissory note worth 5 million TL, and various criminal elements were seized.

The 5 suspects who were caught and detained within the scope of the operation were referred to the courthouse yesterday after the completion of the necessary procedures.

While the individual named A.B. was released among the suspects brought to court, 4 suspects named M.D., N.B., A.T., and G.K. were arrested and sent to prison.

Authorities stated that the investigation is being continued in a multi-faceted manner and that there may be new developments within the scope of the file.
