For decades, scientists have been conducting large-scale research on where people could flee in the event of a global collapse. A study revealing that the end of the world may be near has been published. The results have surprised everyone.

According to a report by Aydan Durak from NTV, scientists have been conducting extensive and serious research for years on where one could take refuge in the event of a global collapse. Scientists have identified the safest countries to seek shelter in case of a global collapse of the world.

These countries include New Zealand, Iceland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Australian state of Tasmania. New Zealand ranked first on this list due to its geothermal and hydroelectric energy, abundant agricultural land, and low population density.

Researchers have stated that human civilization is in a "perilous state" due to environmental damage caused by an energy-based global economy connected by complex networks. Experts indicated that a severe financial crisis, the effects of global warming, the destruction of nature, a pandemic worse than Covid-19, or a combination of these could trigger a global collapse.

To assess which countries would be more resilient against such a collapse, nations were ranked based on their ability to grow food for their populations, protect their borders from unwanted mass migration, maintain electrical grids, and sustain certain manufacturing capabilities. Islands in temperate regions with mostly low population densities took the top spots.

However, scientists said their work highlights factors that countries need to improve to increase resilience.

They stated that a globalized society that values economic efficiency harms resilience and that spare capacity must be available in food and other vital sectors.

A study published in the journal Sustainability reports that billionaires are purchasing land in New Zealand for bunkers as part of their doomsday preparations. Prof. Dr. Aled Jones of the Global Sustainability Institute at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK stated, "We were not surprised that New Zealand was on our list. We concluded that regions where borders can be easily protected and the climate is temperate are the safest places. Therefore, in retrospect, it is quite clear that large islands lead the list."

Jones continued his remarks as follows:

“We were quite surprised that England emerged strong against a potential catastrophe. The country has a dense population and has traditionally relied on external production. It currently produces only 50 percent of its own food. However, it has the potential to withstand shocks.”

The authors of the study also emphasized that the future of the world is under a major threat due to environmental destruction, limited resources, and population growth.
