Assad's final call before leaving for Moscow revealed: 'He didn't even trust his own brother'

With the end of the Ba'ath regime in Syria, it was stated that former President Bashar al-Assad had gone to Moscow with his family. New details have emerged regarding Assad's departure to Russia. According to allegations, it is claimed that Assad did not inform even his closest associates before leaving Damascus.

Gathering nearly 30 military and security officials at the Ministry of Defense hours before the fall of Damascus, Assad gave orders to the Land Forces to resist. Stating that military support would arrive from Russia, Assad attempted to prevent the collapse.

LEFT DAMASCUS WITHOUT DELIVERING THE PREPARED SPEECH

Assad summoned his press advisor to his residence and instructed him to prepare a speech. However, it was noted that by the time the advisor reached the residence, Assad had already left Damascus.

HIS FAMILY WAS IN MOSCOW

According to sources speaking to Reuters, Assad's family had been sent to Moscow before the regime's collapse. Assad, meanwhile, traveled to Latakia on a low-flying Russian military aircraft and from there to Moscow. Sources stated that the aircraft's transponder was turned off to avoid radar detection.

It was stated that Assad kept his escape plan hidden even from his younger brother Maher, directing Maher along a different route. While Maher al-Assad escaped by helicopter via Iraq, two of his cousins were ambushed while heading to Lebanon.
