Bad news for citizens who lowered their credit card limits

The regulation submitted to Parliament by the AKP, which proposed a one-time 750 TL 'Defense Industry Contribution Fee' for users with credit card limits over 100 thousand TL, was withdrawn following public backlash.

However, during the period when the tax plan was announced, thousands of cardholders chose to lower their credit card limits to avoid being affected by the deduction.

Following the cancellation of the regulation, a new crisis has emerged in the banking sector.

According to a report by Sözcü, after the 750 TL tax was withdrawn, users who wanted to raise their credit card limits back to their previous levels received negative responses from banks.

In line with the latest instructions from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) regarding credit card limits, banks have decided to reject many customers' limit increase requests.

Users who wanted to get their old credit card limits back were disappointed by the SMS responses they received after applying to the banks.

After evaluating the applications, banks sent messages to customers stating, "As a result of current evaluations, your limit increase application cannot be accepted," thereby rejecting their requests for higher limits.
