Cumhuriyet newspaper columnist Murat Ağırel wrote about the bets placed on the Kasımpaşa-Samsunspor match.

In his article today, Ağırel wrote that in the Kasımpaşa-Samsunspor match played in the 10th week of the Süper Lig, the bet that “Kasımpaşa lead at halftime but Samsunspor win the match” was played by 238 people.

Ağırel stated that one of the users staked 50 thousand Turkish liras on the bet with odds of 34.50.

Pointing out that all of the same user’s other bets had odds between 1.50 and 1.98, Ağırel drew attention to what he said was a contradiction.

"HE STAKED 50 THOUSAND TL AND WON 1 MILLION 725 THOUSAND TL"

The relevant part of Ağırel’s article is as follows:

"Recently, it was noteworthy that former referee Mustafa Çulcu said on a program that Süper Lig referees had won compensation by filing lawsuits over insults made on social media.

According to Çulcu’s statement, referees make agreements with lawyers for large fees, and through these agreements they sue people who insult them on social media and collect compensation. Çulcu’s allegations are quite thought-provoking in terms of ethical values.

I also want to tell you about a betting incident that caught my attention very much.

In the Kasımpaşa-Samsunspor match, a user on a betting site placed the bet that “Kasımpaşa lead at halftime but Samsunspor win the match.”

He staked exactly 50 thousand Turkish liras on this bet, which had odds of 34.50, and won exactly 1 million 725 thousand TL. Moreover, 238 other people played the same betting slip!

The match result also ended exactly that way: Kasımpaşa were ahead in the first half, while Samsunspor came back in the second half and won.

In the match, Samsunspor won two penalties in the first half and the footballer named Ntcham took the penalty kicks, missing both; then Kasımpaşa scored and the first half ended that way.

But in the second half, Samsunspor scored goal after goal. They won the match 4-1. I am not accusing the teams or the players. Under normal circumstances, Samsunspor could have turned the match around anyway because of their current form.

However, I looked at the previous bets placed by the person who played this bet. He had placed only one bet with such high odds.

All his other bets were at odds of 1.50-1.98. If it were you, would you keep playing at odds of 1.50 and then suddenly put 50 thousand liras on odds of 34.50? Isn’t that against the nature of things?

Don’t you also find it strange that this type of betting slip was played for such high amounts and that the same slip was preferred by more than one person?

The betting problem is causing foul smells to rise from football. So much so that the Hong Kong betting mafia is alleged to have manipulated even the world’s most watched Premier League and the NBA.

Everyone knows that unless Turkey takes measures against this, it will become a country where such shadowy figures run rampant."
