Call from İmamoğlu: 'The ballot box on March 23 is a new roadmap to be opened for Turkey'

İmamoğlu stated that the deadline for party membership to vote in the CHP's presidential primary election, which will be held on Sunday, March 23, is Friday, February 28, at 17:00, and invited citizens to join the CHP and vote in the primary.

In a video post on his social media account regarding the matter, İmamoğlu noted the following:

"We have embarked on a new journey for Turkey that is arduous but equally full of hope. We have submitted our application for the presidential candidacy of our Republican People's Party (CHP), entrusted to us by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his colleagues. I would like to thank all our deputies, especially our Chairman Özgür Özel, who signed for our candidacy. Dear citizens, our party members will go to the ballot box in all 81 provinces on Sunday, March 23. Everyone who becomes a member of our party by 17:00 on Friday, February 28, will have the right to vote in the primary and have a say in Turkey's future.

The decision to determine the presidential candidate through a primary election has been a democratic revolution unprecedented in our history. I am pleased to observe that there has been a very large increase in new membership applications to our party since this decision was announced. However, we must be more. We must be more so that we can make the statement we will make on March 23 heard by the whole world. In democracies, the seal is in the hands of the nation. And the will of the nation is above all political calculations.

The ballot box that will come before us on March 23 is a pioneering ballot box. The perseverance and determination we need will spread in waves from this ballot box to the entire country; our old and new members will be pioneers with the votes they cast and will take their places in the pages of history. The ballot box on March 23 is a new roadmap that will open up before Turkey. We will share the struggle to open that path together.

Every new membership will be a rising voice against the bad course of events in our country. Every vote you cast will give wings to the courage of millions. Every step you take while going to the ballot box will be a new hope sprouting.

The will you show will be the harbinger of a great victory. Your voice will be so loud that the whole world will hear it. Come, show how much you want change. Show that you have not surrendered to despair.
