Candidacy agenda in CHP... Alleged 'candidacy ultimatum' from Mansur Yavaş: He recalled 2023

The process of determining a presidential candidate within the Republican People's Party (CHP) has gained momentum once again. With the cancellation of Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma and his subsequent arrest, the CHP's previous candidacy plans have been largely disrupted. As serious questions arise in party corridors regarding İmamoğlu's political future, a debate has begun over who will be nominated in his place.

Participating in the 'Medya Kritik' program broadcast live on TGRT, TGRT Ankara Representative Fatih Atik shared striking information regarding the inner workings of the CHP.

''CHP WILL NOT TAKE SUCH A RISK''

Fatih Atik stated that the CHP will no longer consider İmamoğlu as a candidate. Atik said, 'Under the current circumstances, there is no possibility of İmamoğlu being a candidate. The CHP will not take such a risk. Therefore, they will determine an alternative candidate. This person could be Özgür Özel, Mansur Yavaş, or a completely surprise name could come to the agenda.'

DID YAVAŞ ISSUE AN ULTIMATUM?  

Atik noted that the general atmosphere within the CHP is currently shaping up around the name of Özgür Özel. 'There are many among CHP deputies who think Özel will be made the candidate. The general trend within the party is in this direction. But Mansur Yavaş does not trust this much,' he said.

YAVAŞ SHOWED THE POLLS 

On the other hand, it was emphasized that Mansur Yavaş has commissioned numerous polls in the field and has seen high levels of support in all of them. Atik stated that Yavaş personally shared these poll results during a tripartite meeting that included İmamoğlu and Özgür Özel.

''HE RECALLED 2023''

Reporting that Yavaş expressed he does not want to experience a similar disappointment, specifically referring to the events during the 2023 election process, Atik continued:

'Mansur Bey tells his inner circle: "When Kemal Bey was nominated, I was ahead in the polls. There was a 20-point difference. But I was not made the candidate." Now he is worried that the same thing will happen again. For this reason, he says he will take a different stance this time. He is openly issuing an ultimatum: "This time, I will be a candidate."'

According to Atik, Mansur Yavaş also does not trust the statements frequently made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, such as 'We will look at the polls, and whoever is ahead, we will make them the candidate.' It was stated that Yavaş is cautious, saying, 'They said the same thing in 2023, but the result did not change.'
