Car and semi-truck collide head-on: Mother and daughter killed, father critically injured
In the Mut district of Mersin, a mother and her daughter lost their lives and a father was critically injured in a head-on collision between a semi-truck and a car.
The accident occurred on the Mut-Silifke highway within the borders of the Karadiken neighborhood.
According to the information received, the car with license plate 70 ACP 659, driven by Adem Korkmaz (50), veered out of its lane and collided head-on with a truck with foreign license plate VV 814, driven by Y.U., coming from the opposite direction.
In the accident, the car driver was seriously injured, while his mother Emine (52) and 22-year-old daughter Sümeyye Korkmaz lost their lives at the scene.
Upon notification by those who witnessed the accident, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene.
The injured driver was taken to the district state hospital by ambulance.
Following the prosecutor's investigation at the scene, the bodies of the mother and daughter were taken to the morgue.
The investigation into the accident, from which the truck driver escaped unharmed, is ongoing.
