Chaos erupts during cafeteria demolition: One police officer injured
A scuffle broke out during the demolition of a cafeteria alleged to have been built illegally in the 1050 Konutlar area of Bursa's Osmangazi district by Metropolitan Municipality teams. The business owners resisted the demolition, and the scene turned into a battlefield. One police officer was injured after being struck in the head, and 3 people were taken into custody.
Chaos erupted during a demolition attempt near the metro station and Mudanya minibus stops in the 1050 Konutlar area of Bursa's Osmangazi district, where an urban transformation project involving more than 5 thousand residences is underway.
The owners of the cafeteria, who had been given notice approximately 15 days ago, requested a one-day extension, but the teams informed them that the decision was final.
Tensions then escalated. Some individuals from the group attempting to block the demolition attacked the police.
A suspect threw a chair, striking a police officer in the head. The injured officer was taken to the hospital.
Riot police were dispatched to the scene, and tensions remained high in the area.
Police intervened with pepper spray, and 3 people who resisted were taken into custody.
Construction machinery buckets demolished the illegal structure. The moments were captured on security cameras, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
