Chilling details in the Narin murder: Confessions and evidence search footage revealed

Footage has emerged showing the evidence search and investigation of the red vehicle belonging to the confessor, Nevzat Bahtiyar, which was used to transport 8-year-old Narin Güran to the creek immediately after she was murdered. Narin had gone missing after leaving a Quran course on August 21 in Tavşantepe Village of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district, and her body was found in a sack in a creek bed near the village on September 8.

The meticulous examination of the vehicle, which had all its upholstery and seats removed, involved a search for biological evidence.

According to the report by SÖZCÜ, another piece of footage shows that four days before the body was found, Gendarmerie officers were searching graves of recently buried individuals around the cemetery—where the family had misled them—using underground imaging devices.

In the Gendarmerie's camera recording, which shows the vehicle used to transport the body being taken for examination three days after Narin's body was found, an officer states: “Today is September 11, 2024, at 20:30. A biological examination is being conducted on the vehicle with license plate 23 AN 630, which was used to transport the body following the murder of Narin Güran in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's Bağlar district.”

ALL UPHOLSTERY AND SEATS INSIDE THE VEHICLE WERE REMOVED

The continuation of the footage shows Gendarmerie Crime Scene Investigation teams, wearing white coats and gloves, working on the vehicle.

The footage shows that all upholstery, seats, and covers inside the vehicle were completely removed. Materials obtained from the vehicle, which was seized for DNA and biological evidence analysis, were carefully placed in evidence bags and sent to the Van Gendarmerie Criminal Laboratory for DNA matching.

It can be seen that the upholstery fabric and covers on the seats were stripped from the foam and placed in evidence bags. Similarly, the fabric from the seat backrests was removed with the help of a knife and placed into evidence bags.

FOOTAGE OF THE CEMETERY WHERE THE FAMILY MISLED INVESTIGATORS

Another piece of footage includes search and scanning activities at the cemetery, where Gendarmerie officers were misled to prevent them from finding Narin.

In the footage regarding the search activities conducted with devices around the cemetery on September 4, four days before Narin's body was found, it is stated: “On September 4, 2024, in relation to the incident of the missing child Narin Güran, fresh graves in the Tavşantepe neighborhood cemetery are being inspected with the help of devices. This activity is currently being carried out.”

Soldiers can be seen examining the graves of recently deceased individuals with underground imaging devices, conducting a meticulous study inside and around the cemetery while considering the possibility that Narin might have been murdered and buried there.

FIRST INTERROGATION, THEN REENACTMENT AND SITE VISIT

The continuation of the footage includes the interrogation of the confessor, Nevzat Bahtiyar, at the Gendarmerie Command after the examination of the vehicle used to transport the body was completed.

In this footage, it is seen that the confessor, Nevzat Bahtiyar, is wearing black sunglasses and a hat, and is handcuffed to a plainclothes security officer as he is brought to the Eğertutmaz creek near the village.

In this footage, Bahtiyar explains how and in what manner he hid Narin's lifeless body in the creek under the supervision of plainclothes Gendarmerie officers and two public prosecutors. The recording includes the following announcement:

“Camera footage regarding the site visit conducted on September 9, 2024, at the scene of the intentional homicide that occurred on August 21, 2024, in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır province.” In the footage, the Public Prosecutor asks Nevzat Bahtiyar how and in what manner he received the body from Salim Güran.

-Bahtiyar explains how he received the body. When the prosecutor asks, “Did you meet here on the road? Weren't you afraid someone would see? Did you put her in the sack here too?” he answers “Yes.” In his dialogue with the prosecutor, Bahtiyar says:

“Salim said, ‘Take this and get rid of it.’ He threatened me by saying, ‘You know what will happen to the family.’ He said he would give me 200 thousand liras. Together, we took her out of the blanket she was wrapped in and put her into the sack that was in the trunk of my car. Salim left the blanket on the front passenger seat again. We put her bag and the slippers she was wearing into the sack. We placed them in my car together. I hadn't tied the mouth of the sack. I tied it at the creek.”

“HOW DID YOU CARRY HER WITHOUT DROPPING HER?”

In the footage, Bahtiyar is seen walking toward the creek with the prosecutor. As Bahtiyar descends into the creek bed, the prosecutor asks: “Are you sure you didn't drop the child? Look, you can't even get down there by yourself. How did you get this child down there? Did you throw her, what did you do? You can't even stand still now. After all, there is a 15-20 kilo child in your arms. Show me how you carried her to the creek without dropping her,” he says.

Bahtiyar arrives at the spot where the reeds are located, where he hid the little girl, and says, “I left her here.” The prosecutor then asks the Gendarmerie officers, “Does the place where he left the body match what he described?” When the information is consistent, the site visit procedure is concluded, and Bahtiyar is taken back for interrogation.

After the site visit at the creek is finished, Nevzat Bahtiyar is seen this time in front of the camera during the statement-taking process at the Gendarmerie Command.

In this footage, it does not go unnoticed that Bahtiyar is calm and cold-blooded. He says, “I want to benefit from the rights granted to me by the laws.”
