There are at most 59 days left until the 2025 minimum wage is determined.

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission is expected to convene, with worker and employer representatives and Ministry officials coming together to present their demands.

Evaluations from the International Monetary Fund regarding the minimum wage in Turkey had angered citizens.

IMF Turkey Mission Chief Jim Walsh stated that the minimum wage should not be raised as it was last year, noting that this situation poses a risk for inflation.

Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan, on the other hand, had said that a minimum wage increase of around 25 percent would be consistent with the 2025 inflation outlook. 

With a 25 percent raise announced by Karahan, it is projected that the minimum wage could be 21 thousand 252 TL.

Citizens, however, cannot reach a clear figure due to the gap between the inflation rates announced by TURKSTAT and ENAG.

The lack of a mid-year adjustment in 2024 also significantly eroded citizens' incomes.

Experts agree that a raise of at least 50 percent is necessary to compensate for last year's erosion.
