Cold wave in Turkey! Which regions will see snowfall?

While showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Marmara, Aegean, Central Anatolia, and Black Sea regions, snowfall will be effective in the higher elevations of Eastern and Central Anatolia. A storm warning has been issued for all of Turkey, and warnings have been issued to farmers against the danger of agricultural frost.

SUDDEN TEMPERATURE DROP EXPECTED

General Directorate of Meteorology Weather Forecast Expert Murat Acar stated that temperature records were broken across Turkey over the weekend and that temperatures reminiscent of summer months were measured in some regions.

"We measured very high temperatures across the country on Sunday. For example, 36 degrees was measured in the Terme district of Samsun, which is July or August heat. However, starting tomorrow, these temperatures will drop by 30 degrees."

This sudden temperature change will cause harsh weather conditions in many regions.

WHICH REGIONS ARE EXPECTED TO SEE SNOW AND RAIN?

According to the forecasts of meteorological experts, the cold wave will take hold of all of Turkey.

Snowfall is expected in Central Anatolia and the eastern regions.

Showers will be effective in Marmara and the Aegean.

Strong winds and storms will be seen in the interior parts of the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions.

Snowfall is expected in the Taurus Mountains, the higher elevations of Central Anatolia, and Eastern Anatolia.

The most significant effect of the cold wave will be the rapid drop in felt temperatures and the intensification of precipitation.

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE IN THE THREE MAJOR CITIES?

Meteorology expert Murat Acar explained the weather forecasts for Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir as follows:

Ankara: Light snowfall is expected on Wednesday and Thursday, but it is not at a level that will negatively affect daily life.

Istanbul: No snowfall is expected. However, showers and thunderstorms will be effective.

Izmir: There is a high probability of thunderstorms.
