Commemorative coin symbolizing unity among Turkic States goes on sale

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who attended the summit held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, presented the commemorative coin, which was specially prepared for the summit, to the heads of state.

According to information received from the General Directorate of the Mint and Stamp Printing House, a special commemorative coin was designed for the OTS within the scope of the 2024 commemorative coin minting program.

The design of the Organization of Turkic States Commemorative Coin features rich details that symbolize the deep-rooted ties and cooperation between Turkic states.

While the minting of the commemorative coin emphasizes the international effectiveness and cultural values of the OTS, various visuals and drawings were applied in its design. In addition to keeping the OTS logo at the forefront during the design process, other elements in the visual were intended to reflect the organization's theme.

The obverse of the commemorative coin features the organization's logo, surrounded by an 8-pointed Seljuk Star. Each corner of this star symbolizes 8 different meanings reflecting the values and philosophy of the organization: mercy, compassion, patience, truthfulness, keeping secrets, loyalty, generosity, and gratitude; these meanings also represent the 8 states within the organization.

On the reverse of the commemorative coin, the flags of the member countries—Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, TRNC, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan—are gathered in a cycle, accompanied by the phrase "Unity in Language, Thought, and Action." This slogan symbolizes the material and spiritual unity among these countries.

The honeycomb texture in the center of the coin represents productivity, diligence, and togetherness, while the handshake of two hands on this texture reflects the organization, which has become a symbol of reliability in every field, as well as peace and unity for the region and other geographies.

The Organization of Turkic States Commemorative Coin is 38.61 millimeters in diameter, weighs 23.33 grams, and was minted on bronze metal with an oxidized finish. The commemorative coin, which was produced in a maximum quantity of 5,000, has been set with a circulation period of 2 years starting from November 7.

The commemorative coin in question has been released to the market in a box for 900 lira at the Mint's Collection Store in Beşiktaş and at emagaza.darphane.gov.tr.
