Criminal complaint against Cübbeli Ahmet from Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey: 'He is doomed to remain under the foundations'
Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Gülizar Biçer Karaca has filed a criminal complaint with the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known in the public eye as "Cübbeli Ahmet Hoca," on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility."
Biçer Karaca stated, “Let everyone know this truth: those who attack the foundations of the Republic of Turkey are doomed to remain under those foundations. I believe that this nation will not surrender the robe, which is the symbol of justice, to the moniker or the shadow of those who advocate for Sharia.”
Deputy Speaker of the TBMM and Denizli MP Gülizar Biçer Karaca filed the criminal complaint against Cübbeli Ahmet with the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Making a statement regarding the matter, Biçer Karaca noted the following:
"HAS THE POTENTIAL TO FUEL HOSTILITY"
"No rhetoric that targets the fundamental characteristics and constitutional order of the Republic of Turkey is compatible with our principles of a state of law. The expression, 'We are Sharia supporters, what business do we have with this order, with this regime,' not only constitutes a violation of Articles 2 and 174 of our Constitution but also has the potential to fuel hatred and hostility among our citizens. The Republic of Turkey offers an equal and free living space to all its citizens with its secular, democratic, and rule-of-law characteristics.
"WE ARE PROTECTING THE TRUST OF OUR NATION"
The Republic of Turkey is not a regime that anyone can question by asking 'what business do we have with it'; it is the glorious history of this nation's determination and struggle. We remind those who question 'what business they have' with this regime: The Republic of Turkey does not belong to occupied minds, but to the spirit of independence of its founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. As a member of the Gazi Assembly, I am protecting the trust of our nation and calling on the authorities to meticulously investigate these statements before the law.
Forbidden for everyone, free for 'Cübbeli': He said 'We are Sharia supporters' at an event he arrived at in a vehicle with a siren Forbidden for everyone, free for 'Cübbeli': He said 'We are Sharia supporters' at an event he arrived at in a vehicle with a siren
"PART OF SYSTEMATIC ATTACKS"
The fact that the same individual expressed similar views against the secular Republic of Turkey on June 6, 2023, shows that this rhetoric is not a coincidental or isolated statement, but rather the manifestation of a systematic mindset. This situation points to an ongoing ideological stance against the constitutional order and the principles of a state of law.
These recurring statements are not merely an expression of individual opinion, but also aim to create social polarization, weaken the constitutional order, and target secularism. Especially in a system where secularism is the cornerstone of our identity as a democratic and social state of law, the reckless repetition of these statements constitutes an open challenge to the fundamental values of the Republic of Turkey. Therefore, it is not possible to treat these expressions solely within the scope of personal freedom of thought.
Such statements should be evaluated in terms of the revolution laws protected under Article 174 of the Constitution and the crime of inciting the public to hatred and hostility within the framework of Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK). Remaining silent in the face of these recurring statements means ignoring a threat to the fundamental values of our republic and the rule of law.
"THOSE WHO ATTACK THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY ARE DOOMED TO REMAIN UNDER THOSE FOUNDATIONS"
As Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, with the awareness of this responsibility, I am taking this statement to the competent authorities for investigation and once again expressing that I am the voice of millions of our citizens who are wholeheartedly committed to the Republic of Turkey.
Let everyone know this truth: those who attack the foundations of the Republic of Turkey are doomed to remain under those foundations. I believe that this nation will not surrender the robe, which is the symbol of justice, to the moniker or the shadow of those who advocate for Sharia."
